There are plans to start an enterprise in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast to assemble tractors made by OAO Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units, BelTA learned from Sergei Petrov, head of the representative office of Nizhny Novgorod in Belarus, who met with Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky on 13 March.

According to Sergei Petrov, Nizhny Novgorod has been cooperating with the Bobruisk-based tractor maker for quite some time but this year cooperation has evolved into a serious joint venture to start an assembly enterprise with a great future ahead of it. Negotiations are in progress, the documents and the site for the new manufacturing facility are being prepared. “It is a good example of the advancement of our mutual relations, stronger economic cooperation. We would like to see as many such contacts as possible for the sake of manufacturing cooperation and the production of joint competitive merchandise,” he remarked.

According to Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky, Mogilev Oblast and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast should step up economic cooperation. Serious potential is available for it with regard to manufacturing cooperation between economic operators, the establishment of new enterprises, the creation of distribution networks, and higher trade volumes. “We would love to see more vigorous interaction and the advancement of cooperation on the part of Nizhny Novgorod with such large Mogilev Oblast manufacturers like Mogilevliftmash, Belshina, Mogotex and other enterprises that make competitive products and need certain assistance with promoting these products,” said the Governor.

The Mogilev Oblast Governor also suggested discussing the participation of Nizhny Novgorod business circles in the implementation of investment projects that envisage the manufacturing and processing of agricultural products in addition to creating joint distribution networks. In particular, prospects of building and developing a major pig farm were discussed. Local meat processing factories could process meat while the end product may be sold in Russia.

Vladimir Domanevsky pointed out that the year 2015 had been declared the Year of Youth in Belarus. Taking into account the fact that the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory will be marked this year as well, he suggested considering joint projects for cultural and youth exchange and the participation in joint events.
